Hello! My name is Amy. I come from Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages in Taiwan. I’m 20 years old and majored in foreign language instruction. I’m that type of person who likes to meet new people and travel. I think that different culture, different feelings. I believe during the process, I will learn lots of life lessons.

The reason why I came here is because I want to step out of my comfort zone and try new things. Also, share the beautiful sides of Taiwan culture for the students in Indonesia. Therefore, when I saw that our school provides this special opportunity, I applied for this internship undoubtedly. Luckily, it all went smoothly. So, here I am, in this beautiful school in Surabaya. 

In junior high school, I’m co-teaching with Janice. We shared Taiwan’s culture, including food, places, singers, and festivals. I’m so grateful that students here are so concentrated during my teaching process. I can feel that they want to know more about Taiwan, like the taste of our special food. Also, their learning attitude is well and willing to engage in the class. At the end of our lesson, we have a handmade activity called paper cutting. Students are very happy to do this work. And it also have a little challenge for them because they need to write the half of Chinese word“春”on the paper first. When they finish the task, everyone’s work is different. So, this is very special for all of them. They have their own unique paper cut. The meaning of“春”is the start of new year also means good luck. I hope those students can have good times come to them in unexpected ways. Wish them luck. 

To sum up, I’m really enjoying the time being here. First, I can feel the passion that students convey to me. I truly thank you for bringing me such a good feeling. Second, I’m glad to know the extracurricular activities that students will do or the way they are having class projects. It’s all new and exciting for me. Finally, thank you teachers caring and guiding us to walk around to see the different things and beautiful buildings in the school. I had a good time here.
